Do I have to buy a laptop for this program?

No, there is no need to purchase a laptop. All the needed hardware and software is available in our dedicated lab. If you do have a laptop you can certainly use it in class, provided you have the needed software. It should be noted that having a reasonably up-to-date computer at home is strongly recommended for doing homework and assignments, in terms of convenience.

Will this program be enough for me to find a job within Web Design or Web Development?

Yes, this is the primary goal of the program. Being employable in the industry should be the result by the end of the 22 weeks. That being said, the effort you put into your studies and work determines whether you will be successful or not, so be prepared to work hard.

I am familiar with most of the Adobe software, will I have to take all the courses involving Photoshop and Illustrator?

Although you may know the software well, our design courses focus on using the Adobe software to create web graphics and prototypes of websites.  Because of this specialization, you will certainly learn new techniques within the software, so it is in your benefit to take those courses.

Is this program elligible for Second Career Funding?

Yes, this program meets the criteria for Ontario’s Second Career Funding.  Approval of funding often takes time, so make sure to apply early as it can be an extensive process.

To speed up the process, you can use on of Humber’s employment councillors who is familiar with the program and how it relates to Second Career.

What is the weekly schedule like for this program?

The program runs 10 am to 2:30 pm with a lunch break in the middle of class.  It runs Monday to Friday, excluding any statutory holidays during which Humber College is closed.  This continues for the complete 22 weeks of the program.

There is an expectation that you will have time to complete homework on evenings and weekends.

Is the program OSAP elligible?

No, due to the unique nature of this program, it is not OSAP elligible. The advantage to this approach is that the curriculum is updated very frequently to match the trends in the industry.
